There's a puppy process.

Puppies are available to go home with you at 12 weeks to new parents & 10 weeks for experienced parents.

We will meet online or on the phone with the puppy's potential new parents to do an initial consultation as a first step:

Here are some criteria we consider (and which were considered of us when we began our Portie Journey in 2017):

Physical Environment:
•  Must have a single-family home with a private, securely fenced yard. Some Porties will run, jump, and roam if they get a chance. You have to be extra cautious.
•  Minimum lot size 1/4 acre recommended to accommodate the breed's exercise needs. Porties need to run around quite a bit!  These are NOT house/apartment dogs.  We do not crate, but we have tied out with a zip line.
•  Fencing must be at least 6 feet high and securely anchored all around.  Porties will jump and climb.
•  If property has a pool, it requires separate secure fencing for safety. Porties will swim.
•  Outdoor space must include shaded areas and access to fresh water. They get super hot in warm temps.
•  No shared living spaces or communal yards. Porties are not aggressive at all, and they can be very playful and SOUND like they are growling in anger but they are very vocal.

Activity Level Match:
•  Must be able to provide 1-2 hours of daily exercise
•  Should enjoy an` active lifestyle as PWDs need both physical and mental stimulation; they can fetch anything you teach them to fetch. Including fetching by color.
•  Willingness to engage in activities like swimming, agility, obedience training or just lots of playtime!

Time Commitment:
•  Available to spend significant time with the dog
•  Able to commit to regular grooming (professional grooming every 6-8 weeks)
•  Willing to invest time in training and socialization. They can be very disobedient if you do not train them early.  We trained all of our puppies!
•  Ready for a 12-15 year commitment

Financial Requirements to consider for this breed:
•  Ability to afford regular veterinary care
•  Budget for quality food and supplies
•  Resources for professional grooming
•  Emergency vet fund or pet insurance
•  Training class expenses

Family Situation:
•  Good with families, including and especially with children
•  Can adapt to homes with other pets. We have a variety of pets in our house
•  All household members should be on board with getting the dog
•  Someone home regularly (they don't do well with extended periods alone)

Experience Level:
•  Prior dog experience is beneficial but not required
•  First-time owners must be committed to training and education
•  Understanding of working/sporting dog needs
